SO SHA, known on ccMixter as thatcrazylittleasian, is a Filipino-born, UK-based world-building artist, songwriter, vocalist, DJ and performer whose practice is informed by her experience as a neurodivergent artist. Her multidisciplinary practice brings together music, performance, character, storytelling and visual elements to create interconnected artistic worlds.
A recurring figure in her work is Pruu the Pidj, a knitted pigeon character who has developed from a performance prop into a central character within SO SHA's wider Pigeoncore world. Through music, theatre and participatory work, she explores themes including belonging, migration, identity, intimacy and community.
Background
Originally from the Philippines, SO SHA later lived and worked in Singapore before establishing her artistic practice in the United Kingdom.
She studied BA (Hons) Songwriting at the University of East London, graduating with First Class Honours. She also studied and worked at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in London.
SO SHA joined ccMixter in May 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, encouraged by her friend Paul Pajo.
"It was the first time I really opened up as an artist to anyone other than my mum in the Philippines."
Her tracks on ccMixter are distinctive for their letter-spaced titles, including "H O L D M E B A C K" and "C O N F (I) D E N C E", and combine electronic production with personal songwriting in English and Tagalog.
Musical Style
SO SHA's music combines electronic production with vocals and emotionally driven songwriting, drawing from:
- Electronic and electro pop — dance-oriented productions and pop songwriting
- Vocal trance and house — layered, atmospheric vocal arrangements
- R&B and lo-fi — intimate and stripped-back songwriting
- Bilingual songwriting — music incorporating English and Tagalog

Pruu the Pidj and Pigeoncore
