SackJo22 is a writer, vocalist, and remix producer on ccMixter. A member since January 2009, she describes herself as "a writer who loves music." Despite being self-taught and not a formally trained musician, she has become one of the most prolific and widely remixed artists on the platform.
Background
SackJo22 is candid about her musical journey: she acknowledges she is "not a natural singer" and plays bass, guitar, and piano without advanced proficiency. She uses remixing as a creative strategy to make songs beyond her technical limitations — and it works. Her approach of layering her vocals and songwriting over community stems has produced a rich catalog.
"Having free access to source material created by so many talented artists helped me find my voice as a producer of sound and song."
Outside of music, she is a certified somatic practitioner and life guide, integrating creative and healing arts in her wellness coaching work.
Musical Style
SackJo22's work spans a wide emotional and sonic range:
- Ambient and downtempo — atmospheric, contemplative pieces
- Jazz and tribal — organic, rhythmic compositions
- Spoken word and poetry — including an I Ching-inspired series
- Experimental — collage and found-sound compositions
- Singer-songwriter pop — melodic, accessible tracks
Her musical interests include melody, a good beat, ethnic vibes, funk, vintage country, Motown, syncopation, and vocal harmonies.
